Location: StevenageSalary: £55,000 to £75,000 plus BonusContract: Full time SC Eligible (British Citizenship Required)Hybrid: Usually 3 to 4 days per week on site

We are looking for an experienced Software Project Lead to guide the development of advanced test software used across a wide portfolio of complex technology systems. This is a key leadership position within a multi discipline engineering environment, driving the design, delivery and integration of software solutions that support verification and validation throughout the product life cycle.

The Opportunity

You will lead a team that develops software used with test equipment to configure, diagnose, verify and support the quality of products in development, in production and in field test scenarios.

This role gives you the opportunity to shape the technical direction, manage several projects at once, and act as the design authority for all software created by your team. You will work closely with specialists in electronic design, hardware, simulation and real time systems, making this an excellent chance to build a broad understanding across the full product range.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a software development team while promoting a strong and supportive engineering culture
• Act as the design authority for software produced within your group
• Manage planning, scheduling and delivery across several concurrent projects
• Produce accurate cost estimations and manage resources effectively
• Build and maintain strong relationships across engineering, test and leadership teams
• Deliver reliable software solutions to support test equipment across development, production and in service use
• Contribute to continuous improvement and help shape best practice across the team

About You

• Strong background in software development, ideally including experience with low level programming in C
• Proven ability to lead teams or deliver major technical work packages
• Comfortable managing several streams of work at once
• Skilled in cost estimation, project planning and stakeholder engagement
• Confident communicating with and influencing senior colleagues
• Motivated, organised and enthusiastic about building high performing teams
• SC eligible with British citizenship
