The Role

As a Personal Tax Manager you’ll take ownership of a substantial portfolio of personal tax clients providing expert technical advice and strategic tax planning whilst building strong lasting client relationships. You’ll work closely with Partners leading the delivery of exceptional service to high-net-worth individuals business owners landlords and other complex personal tax clients.

Your

Key Responsibilities Senior Client Portfolio Management
  • Manage and develop your own substantial portfolio of personal tax clients acting as their trusted advisor
  • Prepare and review complex self-assessment tax returns tax computations and advisory work
  • Proactively identify client needs and opportunities to add value beyond compliance
  • Handle sophisticated tax affairs including multiple income streams capital gains and inheritance tax planning
Advanced Technical Tax Expertise
  • Deliver proactive strategic tax planning advice to optimise clients tax positions
  • Lead clients through complex tax matters including HMRC enquiries disclosures and investigations
  • Provide expert guidance on Making Tax Digital compliance and implementation
  • Advise on sophisticated personal tax issues including trusts estates and succession planning
  • Stay current with legislative changes and communicate implications to clients
Team Leadership & Mentoring
  • Supervise coach and develop junior and semi-senior team members
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Lead by example in technical excellence and client service standards
  • Contribute to recruitment and training initiatives
Business Development & Client Growth
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources
  • Represent the firm at networking events and within the business community
  • Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership and marketing initiatives
Practice Management
  • Ensure efficient workflow management and adherence to deadlines across your portfolio
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and file management
  • Support Partners with practice development and strategic initiatives
About You Essential Requirements Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years UK practice experience within a chartered accountancy firm
  • ATT qualified ACCA / ACA qualified CTA qualified or QBE with substantial relevant experience
  • Proven track record managing complex personal tax portfolios independently
  • Demonstrable experience supervising and developing junior team members
Technical Skills
  • Expert knowledge of personal taxation legislation and current developments
  • Extensive experience with complex self-assessment returns including multiple income sources capital gains and inheritance tax
  • Strong understanding of tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and business owners
  • Experience handling HMRC enquiries disclosures and investigations
  • Familiarity with IRIS Practice Suite or CCH software (desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of trusts estates and succession planning (desirable)
