We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and proactive School Maintenance Operative to support the safe and effective operation of two specialist education sites. This is a practical, hands-on role where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on pupils, staff, and visitors every day.

The Role

Working closely with school leadership and the estates team, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-presented environment across both sites. The role includes both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out and accurately record routine health and safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, playground equipment, and legionella prevention

Complete a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor repairs

Plan and deliver a rolling programme of decoration, primarily during school holidays

Supervise external contractors on site, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard

Maintain school grounds, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and general upkeep as required

Keep pathways, entrances, and outdoor areas clear of leaves, moss, snow, and ice to ensure safe access

Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by senior leadership or the estates team

Ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Good understanding of health and safety requirements
