Graduate Marketing and Graphic Design Role Overview

The Marketing and Graphic Design Graduate will play a key supporting role in helping the Marketing and Communications team deliver high-quality content, campaigns and visual assets. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications Director and wider team, the role will assist with producing engaging designs, supporting content creation, maintaining brand consistency, and contributing to a wide range of internal and external marketing activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a creative graduate who is looking to develop their skills in design, marketing, and communications within a fast-paced, growing organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and creative support

  • Support with the creation of on-brand visual assets for digital and print formats, including internal communications, presentations, event materials and social media assets.
  • Assist with developing templates, illustrations, iconography and infographics.
  • Support with elevating design standards across the organisation by contributing fresh ideas and creative approaches.
  • Help ensure that all design work aligns with brand guidelines and wider marketing objectives.

Content creation and marketing activity

  • Support with producing written and visual content for a range of channels including websites, social media, newsletters and internal updates.
  • Assist with gathering information, carrying out research, and helping with interviews to develop stories and case studies.
  • Support with creating engaging PowerPoint presentations and visual materials.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining websites and recommending improvements where needed.
  • Help monitor and review marketing content to ensure it is accurate, on-brand and consistent with organisational messaging.

Brand and communication support

  • Help champion the OCU brand by supporting colleagues in applying brand guidelines effectively.
  • Support with reviewing internal and external documents to ensure consistency, quality and alignment with brand values.

Campaign and project support

  • Assist with planning and delivering a variety of marketing and communications projects across multiple divisions.
  • Help track progress, gather insights and assist with measuring performance to support continuous improvement.
  • Support with managing multiple tasks and deadlines, helping to prioritise design and content requests through internal workflows.
  • Support the team with a variety of day-to-day activities and contribute to cross-departmental work when required.
  • Occasionally travel to OCU sites or offices to gather information, meet colleagues and support with content creation.
Skills and Experience Required Skills and Experience
  • Degree in marketing, design, communications or a related field.
  • A creative mindset with an interest in both visual design and written communication.
  • Basic skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for layout, typography and visual quality.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to support multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with colleagues across the organisation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to take direction, follow structured approval processes, and respond well to feedback.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience using PowerPoint to develop visual presentations.
  • Experience with video editing or motion graphics (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, scheduling tools or website CMS.
  • Understanding of digital marketing practices such as SEO or analytics.
  • Driving licence and flexibility to travel if required.
