We have an exciting opportunity for a Homeless Support Officer to join the team of a well-known housing association in South Manchester.
This is a full-time role 37.5 hours a week, on a rolling 6-week rota with the following shifts - 8am-4pm, 10am
-5:30pm or 2pm-10pm and 1 in 6 weekends:
Sat/Sun 9am-7pm.
There is potential for this role to go temp to perm after an initial period of 3 months, looking to start as soon as possible.
Must have an enhanced DBS and be comfortable with lone working where required.

Your new role

Support residents in temporary accommodation including self‑contained flats and HMO properties
Manage a caseload of 8-12 cases, providing tailored support to help them move toward independent living
Work both onsite and offsite, including lone‑working responsibilities
Handle duty days, responding to inbound queries and managing any issues that arise within the scheme
Oversee voids, move‑ins, and move‑on support from temporary accommodation
Maintain accurate records, ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, and contribute to a safe, supportive environment
Work collaboratively within a team, sharing information and supporting colleagues when needed

What you'll need to succeed

Strong resilience and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
Confident crisis‑management skills and sound decision‑making
Ability to work independently during lone‑working periods
A team‑focused mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in homelessness services, supported housing, or a similar support role (desirable)
Ability to manage a varied workload and respond quickly to emerging issues
Empathy, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with vulnerable individuals
