Company Overview

We are recruiting for a growing, award winning and innovative manufacturer of mechanical products in their search for a new Mechanical Design Engineer.

As a mechanical design engineer, you will be a part of a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, testing and introduction of new products.

You will design components and systems using Solid Works and other design tools in a range of materials and considering a wide range of manufacturing processes from aluminium casting to plastic injection moulding.

Job Description

* Solve complex engineering problems using mechanical engineering principles including the definition of materials.

* Use 3D and 2D CAD to generate models and drawings of components and assemblies.

* Use FEA to analyse design performance.

* Create and maintain bills of materials.

* Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.

* Create specifications that can be used in the procurement of bought out components.

* Work closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure product feasibility.

* Building and testing of prototypes and engineering samples.

* Workshop engineering – Hands-on development.

Skills & Experience

* Degree in mechanical engineering or experience working in a similar role.

* 3+ year’s experience in design engineering.

* 3D and 2D CAD software competency (Solid Works or similar).

* Experience with a PDM system (Solid Works, Teamcenter or similar).

* Understanding and application of GD&T.

* Component and or assembly design.

* Understanding of design for manufacture.

* Practical (hands-on) engineering/mechanical skills.

* FEA/CAE experience
