A client within the Public Sector, based in County Durham, is currently recruiting for a Design and Projects Manager to join their Town Centres Development Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority town centre development / capital projects environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To support the Programme Delivery Manager in the delivery of capital projects associated with town centre developments, ensuring projects are designed and project managed in line with defined governance arrangements, best practice principles, and health and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Project managing the design and technical delivery of capital projects across multiple town centres
• Managing and monitoring capital project budgets and financial performance
• Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary internal teams and external consultants
• Managing programme and project risks, including alignment with the Council’s corporate risk register
• Supporting procurement processes for architects, contractors, developers and consultants
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant design, construction or built environment discipline
• Membership of a relevant professional body or equivalent demonstrable experience
• Significant experience delivering complex capital programmes and projects within a local authority
The below skills and experience would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong project and programme management experience within a public sector environment
• Knowledge of town centre regeneration, capital delivery and governance frameworks
• Experience managing consultants, contractors and multi-disciplinary teams
• Financial monitoring and budget management experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office packages
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approx. £35 per hour PAYE).
