Kitchen Assistant​/Cleaner

THE EMPLOYER IS:
Giggles & Wiggles Childcare The kitchen assistant & cleaner supports the smooth running of the kitchen and ensures that all areas of the premises remain clean, safe, and hygienic. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and always following health and safety guidelines.

• Assist cook with basic food preparation (washing, peeling, chopping, portioning).
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment manually and using dishwashers.
• Keep kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas clean and organized.
• Unload and store deliveries safely, checking for quality and proper storage temperatures.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recycling correctly.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and allergen control procedures.
• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas, including floors, surfaces, restrooms, dining areas, and staff rooms.
• Sweep, vacuum and mop.
• Empty bins and manage waste disposal.
• Refill consumables (soap, paper towels, cleaning materials).
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely and wear appropriate protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning schedules.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly to management.

• Previous experience in a kitchen or cleaning role (preferred but not essential).
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and cleaning standards. Training will be provided if necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Physically fit and able to handle manual work safely.
