The Caledonian Cheese Company in Stranraer, part of Lactalis UK & Ireland, now has opportunities for a Stores Operator to work as part of the team making our award-winning, quality cheeses.
Join our team and play a vital role in our production process by storing, loading, and unloading products throughout our site. As a Stores Operator, you will ensure departments run smoothly by removing and storing goods, preparing loads for dispatch, and loading/unloading lorries. You’ll also handle basic computer tasks, maintain cleanliness, comply with safety and quality procedures, assist the Stores Manager, and ensure product traceability for legal compliance.
Work will be carried out in low temperatures and outdoor conditions, with lone working being a common aspect of the job. The role is typically based on a 5-day working week covering early shifts, day shifts, and back shifts. Some weekend or out-of-hours work will be required.
You will be responsible for ensuring all tasks are carried out in a manner that protects product safety, legality, and quality in accordance with our Food Safety Management System, which encompasses HACCP and external certification standards and customer requirements. Candidates should have basic math and computer skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and an understanding of basic food hygiene and HACCP.
Additionally, having a Forklift Licence, manual handling training, and experience in an industrial environment would be advantageous, however training will be provided. Some LGV / HGV experience would also be advantageous.
£12.85 per hour + shift premium as appropriate and holidays, additional benefits are contributory salary sacrifice pension, life insurance, discretionary annual performance bonus and discounted company product.
