Prototype Vehicle Technician
Location:
Gaydon, Warwickshire
Hours:
37 hours per week, rotating shift pattern
Pay: £34.13 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
Contract:
12‑month contract with potential extensions, inside of IR35.
You will be responsible for the whole build of vehicles including component assembly, sub-assembly and whole vehicle build from the ground-up, within a bay‑build environment. Using your Mechanical, Electrical and Trim skills you will assist in the early‑stage prototype process in a state‑of‑the‑art facility.
Working HoursWeekly rotating double‑day shift pattern (37 hours per week + overtime when required).
Shift times:
Monday‑Thursday 06:00‑14:00 / Friday 06:00‑11:00 (Early), Monday‑Thursday 14:00‑22:00 / Friday 10:45‑15:45 (Late).
£34.13 per hour, paid via an Umbrella PAYE payroll model.
12‑month contract with potential extensions.
This contract is deemed inside of IR35.
Please note:
The Umbrella PAYE pay rate stated above is made up of three elements, hourly pay rate, holiday pay and Apex Recruitment's contribution to the payroll administrator's fees.
- Whole vehicle preparation, assembly and build mainly covering Trim and Final Assembly
- Mechanical and Electrical assembly and build tasks including component assembly & sub‑assemblies – building parts and components from scratch
- Building whole vehicles from scratch working within a bay‑build discipline including mechanical, electrical and trim creation and fitment
- Fitting part/full interior Trim packages
- Using all‑round knowledge of EV's, Hybrid, Petrol and Deisel vehicles
- Applying knowledge of whole vehicle instrumentation on test / development vehicles
- Diagnosis and support logging of build issues and engineering improvements
- Reading and interpreting engineer drawings
- Experience of using a variety of handheld tools
- Experience of working with precision components
- Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ/IMI qualifications in an automotive discipline (essential)
- Electric Vehicle / Hybrid Level 3 (IMI or equivalent) (desirable)
- Capable of interfacing with modern day vehicle electrical systems
- Extensive hands‑on experience of whole vehicle
- Good engineering background essential
- Experience of previous vehicle assembly/build work is essential
- Ability to develop good technical solutions to build/quality issues
- Knowledge and practical understanding of H&S, C.O.S.H and environmental procedures
- Flexible attitude towards working hours as overtime may be required
