Mechanical Design Engineer

Position: Mechanical Design Engineer (Permanent)
The Role
My client is seeking a Design Engineer to join the Engineering team. In this position, you will develop detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for both existing and new products. You will collaborate closely with production and other engineering colleagues to ensure designs are accurate, compliant, and ready for manufacture. This is a hands-on position with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and support the introduction of new products into production.

Key Responsibilities

* Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and BOMs using CAD software.

* Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and codes (e.g., API, ISO, PED, ASME VIII).

* Apply principles of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

* Review and interpret client requirements, incorporating them into engineering designs.

* Assist with continuous improvement projects and problem-solving activities.

* Maintain and update technical documentation, drawings, and BOMs.

* Work collaboratively with internal teams including production, quality, R&D, and planning.

* Support STEM initiatives and encourage professional development within the team.

* Undertake additional engineering tasks as required.

* Some travel may be required for business purposes.

The Candidate

Holds a qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experienced in 3D CAD design and drafting.

Knowledge of Design for Manufacture & Assembly practices

Understanding of Geometrical Design & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Able to produce accurate Bills of Materials.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Well-organised with excellent communication skills.

Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
