Job Description
Our fitness instructors play a crucial role at our retirement village by promoting health, wellness, and an active lifestyle among our residents. They design and lead engaging exercise programs tailored to the needs and abilities of seniors, helping to improve their physical fitness, mobility, and overall well‑being. By fostering a supportive and motivating environment, our fitness instructors enhance the quality of life for our residents, encouraging social interaction and a sense of community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting fitness classes in the Spa, including specialist classes & 1‑2‑1 for care floor residents
- Assisting members in setting and achieving their fitness goals, offering advice and encouragement to each member during their visits
- Ensuring you are aware of every member’s health status prior to each appointment and updating records as necessary
- Ensuring all Wellness Spa users receive sufficient instruction to ensure safe exercise
- Supporting membership retention by actively encouraging participation and promoting a helpful, fun‑filled atmosphere to encourage repeat visits
- Always informing the Wellness Spa Manager of any relevant issues
- Developing and promoting organized events such as fitness challenges and group activities
- Supporting the Spa Manager to increase visits and revenue by promoting other services in the spa as required
Key Skills / Qualifications Needed:
Previous experience and qualifications in instructing classes are essential, as this role requires teaching multiple classes on shift. Experience working in spas or the fitness industry, along with a pool responder qualification and pool plant experience, is desirable. Great patience, strong customer service orientation, and a proactive attitude are essential for success.
