Job DescriptionPosition: CAD Designer – Highways and Roads.
Location:
Sudbury, ON, Canada. Full‑time role, expected to begin ASAP.
- Design and draft highway rehabilitation projects using 2D AutoCAD.
- Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings, including plans, profiles, cross‑sections, geometrics, drainage, utilities, signage, pavement markings, detours, and construction staging.
- Prepare design quantities and cost estimates and provide technical support during tendering and construction.
- Undertake design tasks under the supervision of a project manager or senior team member.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental planners, technologists, and administrative staff.
- Monitor project plans and schedules.
- Participate in meetings with internal staff, subconsultants, and clients.
- Document meeting decisions and follow up on action items.
- Contribute to technical reports and studies.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Commit to self‑development and ongoing professional growth.
- Completion of a Civil Engineering Technician or Technology Diploma.
- 1‑5 years of experience in highway design.
- 1‑5 years of experience using AutoCAD software.
- Effective communication skills with project team members.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Proactive and reliable, with a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong technical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of TAC, OTM, and MTO design procedures and standards.
- Experience with MTO highway designs and standards is an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, Microstation, Open Roads Designer, or InRoads software is an asset.
- Field and construction inspection experience is an asset.
- OACETT Certification (C.Tech or C.E.T.) is an asset.
