AboutThe Role
Manage health, safety and environment (HS&E) activities from design to implementation, ensuring compliance with legislation, company policies, and ISO 14001. Support the wider HS&E agenda, collaborate with site management, and report on investigations and audits.
What You’ll Be Doing- Monitor and provide HS&E input throughout the project lifecycle.
- Undertake planned inspections and pre‑work site reviews.
- Track and trend unplanned events; support investigations.
- Attend management meetings and working groups.
- Prepare written reports on site visits, inspections and audits.
- Maintain and update project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the BMS and business emergency plans.
- Assess the impact of new legislation on the business.
- Communicate lessons learned and incident findings.
- Support environmental procedures in line with ISO 14001.
- Deliver training and advisory sessions with HR.
- Support safety leadership teams and promote Zero Harm.
- Implement the MSAP (Make Safety Personal) programme.
- Deliver safety cascades, telematics training and safe driving behaviours.
- Assist with risk assessments, audits and site inductions.
- Provide HSES coaching and mentoring.
- Influence a positive HSES culture.
- Incident and accident investigation competence.
- In‑depth knowledge of UK HS regulations and BMS.
- Formal written reporting ability.
- Project planning and budget management.
- Commitment to continual learning.
- Experience in complex construction and civil projects.
- CSCS competence.
- Stakeholder engagement at all levels.
- Understanding of heavy‑civil operations.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Graduate Member of IOSH, CMIOSH or working towards.
- Tunnelling experience.
- NEBOSH National Diploma, NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety, or equivalent Level 6.
