Clinical Pharmacist (Mental Health) – Suffolk
We are looking for a motivated and forward‑thinking full‑time clinical pharmacist to work within the mental health teams across Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
The position is suitable for pharmacists wishing to transition into mental health. It offers a fixed‑term 12‑month secondment due to maternity leave and may be based at Woodlands Unit in Ipswich or Wedgwood House in Bury St Edmunds, with travel between the two sites reimbursed.
This patient‑facing full‑time role will deliver ward‑based clinical pharmacy services, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support medicines optimisation and quality improvement programmes. The post holder will receive in‑house training and opportunities to complete further accreditations.
- Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards aligned with Trust and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Build strong clinical relationships with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Support patients, prescribers and other staff through MDT meetings, patient consultations, discharge planning, medicines optimisation and quality improvement programmes.
- Train, supervise, coach and mentor other members of the pharmacy team.
- Advise, prepare and deliver training for clinical staff on a wide range of medicines‑related issues.
- Support the Principal Pharmacist in communicating Trust decisions and policies relating to medicines to local clinical areas.
- Participate in continuing professional development through regular supervision and education sessions.
This role will be part of a team delivering a high‑quality patient‑focused clinical pharmacy service to:
- Adult mental health inpatient wards
- Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment
- Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
