An exciting opportunity has arisen to join East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) and the University of Suffolk as a Teacher Practitioner (Pharmacy) on the MPharm programme. This is a fixed-term post for 2 years, delivered on a 50:50 split between clinical practice within ESNEFT and academic teaching at the University of Suffolk. You will work across both Ipswich Hospital site and the University of Suffolk.
This post is band 8a (subject to banding confirmation). This unique role combines advanced clinical pharmacy practice with teaching, supervision and curriculum delivery. You will bring real-world experience into the classroom, support pharmacy students across academic and practice-based learning, and contribute to the development of confident, patient-focused graduates equipped for modern pharmacy practice. This role is ideal for an experienced pharmacist with a passion for education, offering the opportunity to maintain clinical expertise, influence future workforce development and strengthen the link between NHS practice and academic excellence.
Through innovation and partnership working, this role will promote professional development and enhance the regional and national profile of both organisations.
- Act as a Teacher Practitioner (Pharmacy) with the University of Suffolk, contributing to the development and delivery of the MPharm programme.
- Support the Lead Pharmacist in delivering education and training activities across the Ipswich site and relevant cross-site pharmacy services within ESNEFT.
- Work with senior pharmacy colleagues and Education and Training Technicians to develop, deliver and maintain local education and training programmes for pharmacists and clinical technicians at all levels.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote the safe, effective and cost-effective use of medicines at ward level, minimising medicines wastage.
- Provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service at ward level in accordance with pharmacy KPIs and agreed clinical standards.
- Lead on the mentoring, coaching and professional development of junior pharmacists and student pharmacists undertaking Foundation Training and Clinical Diploma programmes.
