3- 6 Months Contract Full time (36.5) £17.65 UMB per hour We are looking for Social Work Assistant at West Midlands B6 4DU
To support social workers who safeguard and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people in the City through the delivery of high quality service.
Key Accountabilities:
Working in Birmingham means you will have the benefit of two office bases in the North and South of the city Lifford House and One Avenue Road which are purpose-built offices that have been newly refurbished, and which offer designated parking spaces. You will be joining a team of dedicated social workers and managers who are very committed to their roles but who are also very warm and welcoming to newly appointed staff.
You will play a key part in assisting our social workers to support our Children in Care alongside those children and families who are subject to live care proceedings. You will assist with the completion of statutory assessments, supervise family time and advise children and their families about help and support that is available to them. You will obtain and record all relevant information, taking appropriate action where necessary;
as well as providing practical day-to-day support; which may take the form of home visits and direct work within the family home or community. Requirements :
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of social work practice. Basic understanding of the legislative framework applying to working with children and families in a statutory setting Ability to work professionally with people experiencing challenging personal circumstances. Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences through written, verbal and other means of communication. An ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence using the English Language as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 Ability to work flexibly with local and wider team and in partnership with other professional agencies to achieve overall team goals An ability to accurately record information in different formats Shows respect for diversity and values individual differences.
