We lead on the management of groundwater modelling and delivery of water‑resource projects for Environment Agency stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an experienced hydrogeologist and project manager with knowledge of conceptual and numerical groundwater models to deliver a comprehensive programme of regulatory model development, update, and operation in East Anglia.
Responsibilities- Take forward the groundwater investigation and modelling programme, including field investigations, model refinement, updates and scenario testing to support water‑resource and water‑quality decision‑making.
- Manage projects within the team programme from initiation to delivery of outputs.
- Act as the focused technical expert for groundwater investigations and modelling, staying abreast of work within the Environment Agency and across regional groups and water companies.
- Organise the issue of intellectual‑property licences to external organisations wishing to use Environment Agency data, information and models.
- Actively participate in the wider groundwater modelling community.
- Experience as a water‑resources specialist who has developed groundwater models and can provide technical leadership.
- Ability to deliver high‑value projects, including securing budget, project approval and managing consultants or in‑house resources.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills for complex activities.
- Proficiency in interpreting groundwater model results and conveying them to support decision‑making.
- Excellent communication skills, managing expectations and anticipating stakeholder needs.
- Ability to convey technical information to a range of audiences.
- Degree level education in a relevant discipline; a higher degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology or Water‑Resource Engineering is ideal.

Location and Working ArrangementsEA Office base location; the national role allows flexible/hybrid working. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
