Technical Author – Inorganic chemicals – UK BAT – 32437

Responsibilities:

  • Draft BAT Conclusions.
  • Liaise with Technical Working Groups.
  • Present a final document suitable for publication as a new UK-wide environmental standard for industry.

Qualifications:

  • Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry.
  • Good understanding of process engineering, environmental issues, regulations and policy in the UK.
  • Capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data.
  • Ability to work with, and write technical documents.
  • Good project management skills and drive to complete.
  • Experience in collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Building and maintaining relationships.
  • Planning, prioritising, organising tasks and resources.
  • Responding flexibly to challenges and adept at building consensus.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures and encourage diversity.

Experience /

Skills Required:

  • At least 5 years working experience and solid understanding of environmental regulation in the LVIC industry.
  • Expert understanding of the large volume inorganic chemicals industry.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, in particular the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
  • Expertise in collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
  • Understanding the implications of BAT Conclusions in permits, on industry and the environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Building and maintaining relationships.
  • Planning, prioritising, organising tasks and resources to ensure timely and effective results.
  • Responding flexibly to challenges and adept at building consensus.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage diversity issues in work.

Length of contract: up to 2 years from appointment.
