Managing Consultant – Finance & Accountancy – Central Employment
Central Employment is recruiting for a Group Finance Manager on a 12‑month fixed term basis in Sunderland. The role reports to the Senior Finance Leadership Team and focuses on accurate group reporting, strategic decision‑making, and financial compliance across all business units.
Key Responsibilities- Lead monthly consolidation of group results, reviewing unit submissions, intercompany eliminations, and preparing consolidation journals.
- Act as primary point of contact for the group audit with external auditors.
- Prepare accurate and timely Group Management Accounts – detailed P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow reporting.
- Support new IFRS and country/UK reporting requirements through guidance and implementation.
- Provide high‑quality financial reports to internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, investors, and banking partners.
- Coordinate monthly forecasting, covenant tracking, and variance analysis.
- Drive preparation of group‑wide budgets, scenario planning, and financial modelling.
- Partner with site finance teams to ensure policy compliance and consistent reporting.
- Support year‑end audit processes and audit of consolidated group accounts.
- Contribute to acquisition accounting, financial integration of new entities, and synergy tracking.
- Develop and maintain group accounting policies, governance frameworks, and internal controls.
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant with strong post‑qualification experience in group reporting and consolidation.
- Background in audit, financial reporting, or group finance within a complex multi‑entity structure.
- Experience leading a team of qualified and part‑qualified accountants.
- Comfortable managing multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of IFRS/UK GAAP and technical accounting standards.
- Experience in acquisition accounting, including ownership and redesign of goodwill impairment models.
- Previous experience in statutory audits and liquidation audits.
- Analytical mindset, interpreting financial data and driving performance insights.
- Confident user of financial systems and Excel; financial modelling experience highly desirable.
