Job Title: Manufacturing Manager
Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear – Onsite
Salary: Up to £63,500 depending on experience
What You’ll Be Doing- Be responsible for achieving Washington’s annual schedule adherence target of >96%.
- Support the development and establishment of efficient manufacturing processes and facilities to meet production programme requirements, considering safety, logistics, process flow, inventory and lead times.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement activities using lean tools to drive delivery performance, throughput, stock turns and operating expense reduction.
- Be responsible for achieving the manufacturing and maintenance annual budgets, including labour costs, general hardware/software costs and capital purchases.
- Own overall responsibility for people and process performance across production, covering discipline, development, supervision, time management and attendance in a 24/7 continuous cycle.
- Ensure the safety of employees working within manufacturing and maintenance.
- Manage manufacturing process quality, ensure adherence to quality standards and handle non‑conforming products through the Q3 process.
- Deliver on Safety KPIs, including OSHEN reporting, toolbox talks, talk safes, workplace inspections, PAVA’s, etc.
- Support Engineering with capital purchases, including specification creation, supplier selection, fund release, installation and validation.
- Degree in an Engineering/Operational Discipline or equivalent experience.
- Qualified in NEBOSH/IOSH and/or Environmental Managing Safety (or working towards).
- Experience leading manufacturing production in a targets‑driven environment.
- Ability to influence through effective negotiation, stakeholder engagement and teamwork.
- Experience embedding and driving lean manufacturing to streamline processes and optimise resources.

The Manufacturing TeamThis role shares joint accountability for production operations on the Washington site with the current Manufacturing Manager, ensuring delivery against the business strategy and key performance indicators. Leadership will be provided to the plant via Shift Leaders, LPLs and Setter Leads to guarantee efficient day‑to‑day operations and budgetary/operational KPIs. The role liaises with Planning & Logistics, Electrical/Automation, Site Services, Finance, Procurement and Engineering.
