ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis position oversees the global product development of Filtrona. This position will ensure we meet our innovative objectives by developing new products or technologies and improve existing products’ performance. This role oversees the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch, by researching market trends, identifying customer needs, and identifying technological trends. This role involves cross‑functional collaboration with teams like operations, global engineering, sales and marketing as well as managing stakeholder relationships to align product goals to business objectives.
Based in Surabaya, Indonesia, this role leads a team of employees and is primarily responsible for the following:
- Develop and execute multi‑category product strategy, create product roadmaps and identify innovation opportunities that are aligned with Filtrona’s business strategy and objectives.
- Shape innovation roadmap by identifying emerging technologies, sustainability opportunities, and competitive differentiators.
- Oversee all phases of product development from ideation and design, prototype testing and technology transfer ensuring scalability and quality. This would include active engagement with technical partners to source for scalable technical solutions.
- Champion continuous improvement in product design, development processes, and lifecycle management to maintain industry leadership.
- Provide leadership and direction and act as a liaison for cross‑functional teams to ensure product strategies are met with a unified approach and effective collaboration towards product development and product launches.
- Direct and lead product teams at Filtrona to ensure global product development activities are being managed with high quality whilst meeting product expectations.
- Lead communication with internal and external stakeholders including technical partners to ensure product objectives are met and development process runs smoothly.
- Develop and manage CAPEX budgets for product development initiatives. Monitor project costs, timelines and resource allocation to ensure delivery within budget and schedule.
- Represent the organization in industry forums and innovation networks to strengthen market positioning and knowledge sharing.
- Lead and mentor a multi‑disciplinary team, fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and accountability.
- Bachelor /master’s degree level education, preferably in Engineering related subject or Materials science.
- At least 15 years’ experience in managing tobacco/nicotine related product development teams.
- Solid and proven working experience in product lifecycle management process including stage gate management process.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving and communication skills are essential for managing teams and stakeholders.
- Strong business sense and ability to guide strategic, data‑driven decisions are critical.
- Strong and proven track record of working in a diverse and international environment. Having international work experience would be an advantage.
- Proven track record of managing agile and fast-paced projects whilst dealing with a high level of ambiguity.
- Deep understanding of product technologies & design, thermal profile analysis, aerosol chemistry, and additive behavior are essential for innovation and compliance.
