What You’ll Do

The job requires a very good understanding of both the clients’ process and advanced process control and vision technology. It is primarily a technical position that requires domestic and international travel, and includes management responsibilities.

  • Responsible for implementing APC systems and advanced sensing systems at remote sites in the dedicated area, and possibly worldwide, until client satisfaction is achieved.
  • Monitors APC or advanced sensing systems remotely via computer access to client sites.
  • Runs training courses for customers as necessary.
  • Designs, configures, installs, and commissions APC systems at the office and at customer sites.
  • Designs and configures intelligent sensors at the office and installs/commissions them at customer sites.
  • Works closely with the market area manager of the dedicated market area.
  • Coordinates work with other APC engineers from the global APC team on projects where they are involved.
  • Performs project management duties: forecasting, organization, planning, communication, reporting, invoicing.
  • Communicates with customers on the projects where the engineer acts as Project Manager.
  • Writes reports, project documentation, and participates in writing product documentation.
  • Provides support to customers in the dedicated area.
  • Travels frequently, both domestically and internationally.
  • Other miscellaneous duties and special projects as required.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Responsibilities
  • Maintains a clean, health and safe work environment for employees, visitors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensures documented HSE management systems are available.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant state HSE legislation and company policy.
  • Assists in preparing rehabilitation programs for employees injured at work.
  • Maintains the company's risk management program.
  • Monitors and reviews HSE management systems.
  • Consults with employees on HSE matters affecting the workplace.
  • Participates in HSE management review meetings as required.
Who You Are Essential
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering/process control, or related field.
  • Technical experience in mineral processing and process control.
  • Very good knowledge of computer configuration and use.
  • Fluency in English communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Self‑motivated.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to an average of 40% of the time.
  • Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills; demonstrates creativity and innovation in day‑to‑day work.
  • Able to take direction and work as a team to solve problems and complete work for clients.
  • Able to travel by motor vehicle and commercial flights.
  • Able to pass random medical and drug and alcohol tests.
  • Fulfills physical requirements to work on customer sites.
Desirable
  • Experience as an APC engineer or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the dedicated area mining industry.
  • Relevant industry experience in mineral processing, cement industry, or other process industry.
  • Management or supervisory ability.
  • Knowledge of Metso APC software or competitor’s software.
  • Plant optimization experience using expert systems, model predictive control, and online dynamic mathematical models.
  • Knowledge of OPC, DCOM, Modbus, and other communication protocols.
