Project Logistics Site Cargo Superintendent About the role
As a Project Logistics Site Cargo Superintendent at Kuehne + Nagel, you will play a vital role in managing and overseeing the logistics operations for a project site in Surabaya, East Java. In this contract position, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of project cargo, adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Your expertise in logistics and project management will be instrumental in supporting the successful implementation of this critical project.
What you’ll be doing- Supervise loading and discharge operations for breakbulk, heavy-lift, and OOG cargo.
- Ensure strict adherence to approved lifting, stowage, and rigging plans.
- Guide vessel operations team on sequencing and cargo handling requirements.
- Oversee safe cargo movement from quay to vessel and vice versa.
- Verify compliance with marine operations standards and port regulations.
- Act as the primary interface between Engineering & planning teams, vessel crew and marine supervisors, port authorities and terminal operators, and stevedoring teams.
- Coordinate and ensure all parties execute according to the operational plan.
- Escalate on-ground issues promptly to the project management team.
- Conduct or supervise cargo inspections prior to operations.
- Coordinate surveyors and manage inspection documentation.
- Ensure accurate operational reporting and incident logging.
- Enforce safety and lifting standards during operations.
- Maintain situational awareness and intervene promptly on unsafe activities.
- Drive zero-incident operations culture across stevedores and vessel teams.
- Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Marine Logistics, Shipping, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of relevant working experience in Shipping operations, Port operations, Breakbulk or heavy-lift cargo handling.
- Experience in oil & gas or EPC project logistics is a strong advantage.
- Prior supervisory or superintendent-level experience in vessel/terminal operations is preferred.
- Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken) is required, due to constant coordination with engineering teams, marine supervisors, and port authorities.
