PositionSummary
The Codes & Standards Engineer ensures that all IEM’s electrical distribution products and plant and field services operations meet relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations. The role supports compliance across multiple electrical distribution product lines and will play a key role in IEM’s expanding production campuses within the US and Canada.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance in interpreting technical language and requirements of various codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20, etc.)
- Ensure IEM products comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, and monitor changes that may impact products or operations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and recognized NRTLs to align new product designs with testing methods and certification requirements.
- Manage UL listing and certification processes, including administrative review and maintenance of IEM’s UL files.
- Coordinate with IEM Services, Sales, NRTL Inspectors, and customers for on‑site field inspections/evaluations ensuring detailed and accurate record management.
- Analyze impact of proposed changes to codes and standards on IEM products or business and develop strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities.
- Develop training and educational materials related to codes and standards for internal and external teams as needed.
- Minimum 2‑year technical degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related science field.
- 2–4 years’ experience in power distribution equipment or a closely related industry.
- Detailed technical understanding of industry regulations relevant to electrical distribution products including UL1558, UL891, UL1008, UL67, IEEE C37.20, etc.
- Familiarity with product testing and certification processes (Electrical Manufacturing Industry knowledge preferred).
- Constructive problem‑solving skills to address key technical challenges.
- Demonstrated success collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
$91,200 – $130,000 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
LocationThis position is available in Vancouver (CAN), Tualatin (OR), and Jacksonville (FL).
