Mechanical Project Engineer (Stations & Facilities)

Role Overview
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, Stations & Facilities, the Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for delivering engineered construction packages for capital infrastructure projects. This role works closely with internal teams across planning, operations, and project delivery to ensure mechanical designs are safe, practical, and aligned with established standards.
The position carries end‑to‑end responsibility for mechanical engineering deliverables, from early design through construction support and project closeout, supporting the reliable operation of critical utility facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Engineer of Record (EoR) for mechanical scope on station and compressor‑related capital projects, collaborating with design technologists to develop detailed designs, material lists, and construction‑ready packages
- Serve as Lead Project Engineer for projects where mechanical design is delivered by external consultants, acting as the primary technical point of contact and ensuring scope, quality, schedule, and standards are met
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and project teams as the main mechanical engineering contact on assigned projects
- Manage engineering‑related project controls including budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and risk assessment for the mechanical portion of the work
- Provide mechanical engineering support during construction, commissioning, and field execution
- Lead the mechanical engineering component of project closeout, including documentation and lessons learned
- Maintain current working knowledge of mechanical design standards, materials, and construction practices through industry engagement, suppliers, and professional development
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 6–10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience within utilities, industrial facilities, or infrastructure environments
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia (EGBC)
Technical & Professional Competencies
- Strong understanding of station, transmission, and distribution facilities and their mechanical systems
- Demonstrated experience application of mechanical engineering principles to station or facility design
- General knowledge of multi‑disciplinary engineering and construction coordination
- Experience supporting projects through design, construction, and closeout phases
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross‑functional teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices, policies, and procedures
- Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, MS Office, Primavera, and Share Point
Compensation & Application Process
The starting salary range for this position is $110,000 to $127,500 annually, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. Please note, this salary range does not include the added annual bonus and comprehensive benefits plan, along with professional development support opportunities.
