Develop electrical design for facilities from well sites to natural gas processing plants
Produce power system drawings, such as single line diagrams, MCC layouts, cable schedules, and contactor panel wiring schematics, electrical plot plans, building electrical layouts, lighting layouts, electric heat tracing design, and cable tray routing
Perform fugitive emission studies and develop hazardous location classification drawings
Assist in project scheduling and reporting
Liaise with vendors and other disciplines to integrate equipment into the final design
Perform power system analysis using SKM Power Tools and ETAP
Regularly meet clients, ensuring Solaris drawing packages and standards meet client expectations.
Review any concerns with the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Department Leads
Support other disciplines in producing control system drawings, such as PLC/DCS cabinet layouts, control schematics, and wiring schematics
Specify equipment requirements such as generators, power transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and ASDs, etc.
Evaluate vendor quotations as well as liaise with the Procurement Department to purchase equipment
Work with Solaris Project Engineers and Project Managers in front end review of project budgets and project scope documents including Project Execution Plans and Design Basis Memorandums
Implement electrical, instrumentation and controls specifications and standards to obtain consistency among all designs for a given client and across clients
Perform project drawing checking and work closely with the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls teams to ensure compliance with codes and standards
Participate in project planning and communicate general project deliverables
Assist the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Department Heads to develop training programs and procedures for the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Departments
Required to participate in HAZOP/SIL analysis
Required to travel to field for project scoping, commissioning, and as-building
What you must have:
Degree or diploma in an Electrical Engineering or Applied Sciences program from a recognized University or technical institution
P.Eng. or P.L.Eng registration with EGBC and / or APEGA
May consider a Technologist depending on level of experience
10+ years of relevant experience working in an EPCM environment
Solid knowledge and understanding of engineering codes and standards is required
Ability to use judgment to solve problems based on guidelines and procedures
Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic and fast paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Proficient with Microsoft Office
