What Is The Opportunity?Aecon is seeking an IDD Coordinator - BIM to join the Urban Transportation Solutions group to support dynamic transit projects across Canada.
What You Will Do Here- Evaluate and assess site conditions prior to construction.
- Develop phased site development 2‑D and 3‑D drawings for construction.
- Create and maintain corridors/sections/profiles for rail and road design alignments.
- Perform quantity take‑offs using cut/fill tracking and XML surface extractions.
- Support the project BIM Manager to ensure correct activities are assigned to the consultant supply chain Information Managers.
- Provide coordination reports of interfaces between engineering disciplines, design, construction, temporary and permanent works design activities through the IDD process.
- Coordinate and develop design to construction through IDD processes such as 5D/4D to optimize sustainability, digital engineering, buildability, carbon, logistics, industrialization and safety.
- Run IDD tools training workshops to enable delivery of Aecon IDD Strategy.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Construction Managers to develop project‑specific processes for utilizing or creating 3D information.
- Coordinate with field superintendents, construction managers, design engineers, and others to meet constructability requirements.
- Create project‑specific protocols for communication, data exchange, nomenclature, format and 3D workspace orientation.
- Facilitate consultant and trades through multiple project phases with digital logistic construction management processes.
- Assist in creating project‑specific contract language for tender packages and 3D submission process and 3D as‑built for facilities management.
- Review, coordinate and manage the creation of Project Information Models.
- Support project deployment duties including software installation, CAD exchange environment set‑up, basic training and support.
- Champion 3D coordination on active job sites, liaising with project teams and maintaining Master Project BIM database.
- Identify opportunities and recommend solutions to improve processes.
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity and career progression.
- Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience in civil construction practice.
- 5+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D in a professional civil design/consulting firm.
- Proficiency with model federation platforms such as Assemble Systems, Navisworks and Bentley Navigator.
- Proficiency in BIM authoring tools such as Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Aeco Sim.
- Proficiency in 4D platforms such as Navisworks Simulate and Synchro.
- Extensive experience with 3‑D modeling in grading, ground surfacing, roads, etc.
- Knowledge of Common Data Environments such as Project Wise, BIM 360, and Aconex.
- Detailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities.
- Working knowledge of EHS regulations.
- Experience on large complex infrastructure projects desirable.
- Understanding of design and construction phases and alignment with the Digital Plan of Works desirable.
- Experience implementing BIM processes in accordance with PAS
1192:2 and the Institute for BIM in Canada toolkits desirable. - On‑site construction experience desirable.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven experience in priority setting, multitasking and working with minimal direct supervision.

The expected pay range for this position is $70,000–$90,000.
