Position Summary:
Estimator will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious client acquisition and revenue growth objectives. You will assist the Sales Manager with estimating support, client presentations, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Interpret project documentation and develop Building Automation/Building Control design basis and cost estimates.Work with the account manager to provide written responses to “Request for Proposals” (RFP), quotes, and/or specification clarifications.Occasionally meet with consultants and owner groups to understand project scope, provide budgets and /or develop project specifications.Understand project delivery and provide solutions both within controls scope and other areas outside of our typical scope.Instill customer’s confidence in the solutions that Ainsworth provides.Build and maintain good working relationship with contractors, vendors and service team members.Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, construction plans and written specificationsExperience in estimating labour and material costs for controls projectsExceptional communication skills; strong oral and written skillsKeep up to date on new Delta and other controls productsMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societiesPrior field and/or sales experience related to automation/controls. A working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and knowledge with the operation of HVAC systems, electrical systems (at least one of these)Positive attitude towards customers and employeesAbility to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environmentAbility to travel to customer sitesHave a valid driver's licenseHave Full-time access to own vehicle for site and customer visits (vehicle allowance provided)Qualifications:
3 to 5 years’ experience in the Building Automation System industryMechanical engineer or Electrical engineering degree preferredTechnical degree or associates degree in a related field will be consideredIndividuals with HVAC or electrical contracting sales and associated experience are welcome to applyEntry-level candidates will be considered on an individual basisProven history of sales activities focused on contractor and consulting engineer relationships and professional selling skillsMust have excellent communication and presentation skillsExperience with scope development and specification writingMust have working knowledge of all typical computer programs used in this work environment such as MS Office, Vista and/or Windows 7 (MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook), Blue Beam software a plus.Valid driver’s license
