Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor, Radiological Technology and the Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging, the Radiological Technologist practices in accordance with professional standards and applies a client‑ and family‑centered care model within Fraser Health.

The Radiological Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic, fluoroscopic, and medical imaging procedures, observing safe radiation protection practices. Duties include receiving requisitions, entering data into the Radiology Information System (RIS), preparing patients for examination, operating radiographic equipment, processing radiographs, monitoring patients, and maintaining cleanliness of examination rooms.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all general duty radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures consistent with established standards and protocols.
  • Complete procedures using appropriate equipment, label records, and update records in RIS/PACS.
  • Explain procedures and give instructions to patients, answering questions as needed.
  • Collect relevant clinical data, maintain and update records, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Prepare contrast agents and manage tray set‑up for examinations.
  • Monitor patient care and safety, ensuring adherence to departmental standards.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and risk management processes.
  • Maintain equipment, perform quality control tests, and arrange for repairs.
  • Perform clerical duties related to patient demographics and data entry.
  • Assist with employee and student instruction, orientations, and in‑service presentations.
  • Participate in approved research and special projects.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement/LEAN programs and audits.
  • Report unsafe situations immediately to the supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education, Training and Experience

    Certification with the CAMRT.

    Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic equipment.
    • Ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
    • Understanding of evidence‑based practice related to the modality.
    • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care.
    • Knowledge of research processes and methodology.
    • Familiarity with PACS/Radiology Information Systems.
    • Effective oral and written communication with clients, families, and healthcare staff.
    • Proficiency in operating related imaging equipment.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Ability to prioritize workload in collaboration with others.
    • Proficiency in CPR techniques.
    • Computer skills, including use of client‑care information systems.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
