  • Location: This is a fully remote role open to candidates across Canada, except Quebec. If you’re located in the Vancouver, BC Lower Mainland, you can choose to work remotely, on-site at our Surrey headquarters, or in a hybrid arrangement.
  • Compensation: Annual base salary: $62,800 to $70,400 CAD, plus eligibility for a profit‑sharing bonus.
    This salary range reflects our reasonable estimate for the role. Final compensation may vary based on your experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
  • Additional Requirements: Employment is subject to successful completion of reference checks and a Canadian criminal background check.

Quality Analyst I

Safe Software is looking for enthusiastic Quality Analysts to join our FME Engine Product Development team! As a Quality Analyst, you'll play an important role in ensuring that the FME product platform meets our standard of excellence for all of our customers.

About The Team

Quality Analysts are embedded directly within each of our Product Development teams, meaning that you’ll work directly with Software Developers, Technical Team Leads, as well as your QA peers across other Development groups.

As a Quality Analyst, you will ensure that quality is ingrained into the entire software development process when creating new features for FME. Our team values your input and QA expertise. Right from the start, you’ll dive into Agile development meetings and receive training from the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Quality Analyst I, you will:

  • Working as part of the Development team to go through the entire development cycle, using Scrum or Kanban.
  • Testing exciting new features in the latest beta software and validating behaviour against acceptance criteria.
  • Writing detailed, comprehensive and well‑structured test plans and test cases.
  • Creating automated regression tests or help developing testsuite frameworks.
  • Contributing to feature development meetings with a valuable quality perspective.
  • Creating clear and concise defect reports and enhancement requests.
  • Providing input on user experience, including performance, to product development.
  • Setting up test environments with leading‑edge technology, like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, ArcGIS Online, etc.
  • Participating in Quality team meetings to share ideas, learn new concepts, discuss problems and brainstorm solutions.
  • Exploring new technical areas: containerization, web services, databases, AI, etc.
  • Participating in various cross‑team events like Innovation Daze and Testsuite Evolution.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

Safers come from a variety of backgrounds with diverse skills and knowledge. That being said, those who are most successful in this role have experience with the following:

Required skills:

  • 1-2 Years of previous experience working in a testing role.
  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, GIS or related field.
  • A curiosity for technology - you are excited to experiment with the newest systems and techniques.
  • You are a critical thinker with a curious mind and a love for problem solving.
  • You are a self‑motivated and proactive team player with a passion for helping others.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and/or Bash.
  • Thoroughness in your approach and a high attention for detail.
  • Able to understand complex technical systems and accurately describe problems to the development team when discovered.

Desired skills:

  • Working knowledge and/or previous experience using FME.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment (Scrum and/or Kanban).
  • Experience with test automation and performance testing.
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience with GIS products (Esri ArcGIS, Map Info, Intergraph Geo Media, etc.).
  • Experience with CAD/BIM applications (AutoCAD, Bentley Micro Station, Revit etc.).
  • Experience using Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.).
