Salary: CAD $59.56 - $85.62 per hour

As part of Fraser Health’s Forensic Nursing Service, the Embrace Clinic Nurse Practitioner provides trauma informed, culturally safe medical care to individuals aged 13 and above who have experienced recent violence. The Nurse Practitioner will work closely with community partners such as community services, legal services (policing and courts) and the Ministry of Child and Family Development.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses and treats undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice; writes orders for treatment and medications; provides first line care in emergencies.
  • Monitors ongoing care, orders and interprets screening diagnostic investigations; analyzes information to plan treatment.
  • Establishes priorities for health management; provides follow-up treatment; communicates health findings, diagnoses and priorities with patients and families; supports and counsels patients.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health/social care providers; develops and implements treatment plans; may admit/discharge patients according to policy.
  • Prescribes drugs within regulatory standards and employer policies.
  • Assigns work to other nursing/health personnel; oversees education and supervision as necessary; participates in hiring and evaluation of staff.
  • Participates in research contributing to improved patient care and population health.
  • Maintains population health focus through screening and health promotion activities for at-risk populations.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary education and fosters health care partnerships.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to nursing and interprofessional care.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
