Summary:
Temporary (5 month) part‑time position providing counselling, parent‑education and support to families and children (birth‑12 years) referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Located at FSGV’s Surrey (Guildford) office. Reports to the Program Manager of Project Parent Fraser South.
Salary: CA $38.00 per hour.
Work Hours: 25 hours per week, part‑time. Flexible Monday‑Friday schedule with ability to work some evenings.
Work in the culturally diverse city of Surrey and its surrounding communities. FSGV Surrey (Guildford) office.
Qualifications- Education: Minimum of a Master’s degree in a social science (MSW/MA/MEd in counselling psychology) and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children birth‑12 years.
- Knowledge: Child welfare policies and procedures; integrated case management/wrap‑around services delivery; parenting strategies and child abuse dynamics.
- Skills: Excellent crisis intervention skills; verbal and written communication (including assessment reports); ability to work with families with multiple service needs;
Windows PC proficiency (MS Word, Excel). - Additional Requirements: Valid BC driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
- Conduct family assessments and develop collaborative goals.
- Implement counselling services, support and intervention plans in partnership with families and MCFD.
- Provide services in the family home or community as appropriate.
- Connect children and parents to appropriate supports and services.
- Maintain accurate case records, reports to MCFD and adhere to agency standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision and complete administrative tasks (timesheets).
- Flexible scheduling.
- Two paid wellness days a year.
