- Provide safe, effective care to children in their homes and the community, as delegated by the Named Nurse.
- Recognise safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate procedures.
- Maintain competencies in specific clinical skills and be familiar with emergency procedures, including escalation and resuscitation when needed.
- Support children’s development in partnership with families and the team across various settings.
- Help maintain a safe, stimulating environment and record the child’s condition, taking appropriate action.
- Organise daily activities and attend training and supervision sessions.
- Complete the HCRG Care Certificate within three months (if required) and stay updated with relevant training.
- Follow infection control and health & safety policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate effectively, especially in situations with communication barriers, and liaise with the child’s care team.
- Participate in team meetings, maintain accurate records, and support colleagues by sharing information and addressing concerns.
24/7 service with night shifts across the year, including weekends.
Ideal CandidateEssential
- Understanding the impact of providing/receiving care in the home for children with complex medical needs and their families.
- Ability to participate in training of new staff in a variety of settings.
- Willingness to work towards “experienced to teach” part of the Competency Framework.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate to children.
Desirable
- NVQ3 in health or social care or recognised nursery nurse qualification.
- GCSEs in Maths and English.
- British Sign Language level 1.
- Makaton.
- Experience of relevant clinical procedures and technology dependency.
- Minimum of one year experience working with children with complex health needs.
- Minimum of one year working with children in another setting, e.g. nursery, respite service.
Other Requirements
:
