About the Company

A well-established and growing building services contractor based in Cheam is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their team. The company delivers high-quality mechanical installations across commercial, residential, leisure, healthcare, and public sector projects.

Role Overview

The Senior Mechanical Estimator will play a key role in the pre-construction team, responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects ranging from £250k to £10m+. This is a strategic role requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical estimates, including HVAC, plumbing, public health, and associated systems.

* Review tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to prepare costs and methodologies.

* Conduct site visits where necessary to gather project information.

* Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, building strong working relationships.

* Develop value engineering solutions and alternative design options to strengthen bid competitiveness.

* Prepare tender summaries, mark-ups, risk registers, and handover documentation for the delivery team.

* Assist with bid interviews, presentations, and client meetings.

* Collaborate with design, commercial, and project teams to ensure smooth pre-construction workflow.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing, materials, and technological innovations.

Requirements

* Minimum 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services or M&E sector.

* Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical services design principles.

* Proven ability to produce accurate estimates and win successful tenders.

* Excellent commercial and contractual awareness.

* Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential).

* Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.

* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
