Marmon Lift Recruitment is supporting a leading PE-backed independent provider of elevator and escalator services in the UK in the search for a skilled and experienced General Accountant based in Swanley.

Now operating as a stand-alone, high-growth business, our client is undergoing an organic growth stage. This General Accountant role is a key appointment within the Finance function, reporting directly to the Finance Director and supporting core accounting activities including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal postings, and the month-end close.

Responsibilities:
General Accountant

* Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.

* Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.

* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.

* Support the monthly and year-end close process

* Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports

* Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations

* Reconcile bank accounts and support treasury activities

* Work closely with AP/AR teams to resolve queries accurately and on time

* Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required

* Assist with VAT returns, tax compliance, and other regulatory filings

* Contribute to improving and documenting accounting processes and controls

* Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support the Finance Director

Ideal Candidate:
General Accountant

* Part-qualified or qualified by experience (AAT / ACCA / CIMA)

* Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

* ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent certification preferred

* Minimum 5+ years in a similar accounting role

* Experience with in a PE-backed, turnaround, or carve-out environment is advantageous

* Previous experience in a service, engineering, or construction-related business is a plus.

* Strong understanding of accounting principles

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

* High attention to detail and accuracy

* Confident communicator and effective team player
