As an Associate Director in River Engineering, you will play a vital role in every aspect of river engineering and flood defence on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure. Opportunities to work on iconic engineering projects at home and abroad are available.

We specialise in all aspects of river engineering across multiple challenging and engaging sectors such as Water, Aviation, Defence, Energy and Cities & Development. We provide industry‑leading river engineering and flood defence solutions throughout the project lifecycle, with value added through client‑side support as well as construction phases.

We currently have opportunities in our Epsom, Peterborough, Bristol, Exeter, Swansea, Birmingham and Manchester offices.

Responsibilities
  • Own and direct teams that undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, to high‑quality levels.
  • Define briefs, scopes of work, and contribute to bid proposals.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to meet key project milestones and programmes.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Set quality assurance standards in design.
  • Grow, develop and manage engineering capability within the practice.
About You
  • Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent.
  • Experience in owning design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in design such as flood walls and embankments, weirs, hydraulic structures, culverts, scour protection, access and accessibility, and construction logistics.
  • Familiarity with current UK design standards, guidance and working practices.
  • Proficiency in delivering both traditional engineering and environmentally focused solutions using nature‑based strategies.
