mimic is an early‑stage deep tech robotics & AI start‑up based in Zurich and supported by leading VCs. We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labour tasks and mitigate labour shortages with a versatile automation platform. Our automation solutions, driven by dexterous robotic hands and cutting‑edge AI trained on human observations, bring a new level of AI embodiment to the real world.

As a Service Technician, you will support the development and fabrication of cutting‑edge dexterous robotic hands. In this role, you will work at the intersection of mechanics and electronics, assembling prototypes, developing and executing tests, and organising and managing a state‑of‑the‑art hardware workshop. Your work will be a key contribution to bringing a complex product from concepts and early‑stage prototypes all the way to scaling manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair, fabricate and assemble prototypes and a small batch series of robotic hands
  • Develop and constantly improve maintenance, manufacturing and assembly procedures
  • Develop, conduct and document reliability and lifetime testing of your systems
  • Help to organise and manage our state‑of‑the‑art mechanical workshop
  • Help install robots at customer sites and provide hardware maintenance and support for customer projects in the DACH region
  • Instruct others on processes and procedures you master
Requirements
  • Professional training (Ausbildung) or a Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong intuition for mechanical and electrical systems with hands‑on experience in building and assembling complex prototypes
  • 3D printing (FDM) expertise from professional or private projects
  • Proficiency in at least some of the following technical topics: CAD design, Design for manufacturing, PCB design SMD soldering experience, Knowledge of manufacturing processes like CNC machining, injection‑molding, programming in C++/C /Python, etc.
  • High motivation and problem‑solving ability
  • Well‑structured, tidy, and organised work style, with the ability to motivate others to follow the structure
  • Must hold a Swiss work permit or an EU passport
