Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH

Engineering Program Manager (local) Job Description

Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH (PWAEI), an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies Corporation (RTX), is an international aerospace company headquartered in Lucerne, Switzerland. PWAEI is collaborating with three other aerospace companies to produce and maintain the V2500 commercial aircraft engine, which powers the Airbus A320ceo and Embraer C-390 family of aircraft.

We are looking for an Engineering Program Manager with a strong aerospace engineering background and experience in gas turbine engines, MRO operations, program office leadership, and cross‑functional coordination across engineering, quality, logistics, and external OEM partners.

The Engineering Program Manager will lead the Engineering and Quality Department, bridging engineering, quality, and operations and will drive execution excellence across engine aftermarket programs. It’s ideal for someone who combines a hands‑on understanding of production realities with the ability to drive structured, high‑integrity program execution in a regulated aerospace environment.

The successful candidate will lead major engineering programs, coordinate internal and external partners, ensure adherence to quality and airworthiness requirements, and represent PWAEI to international customers, suppliers, and joint‑venture partners.

The position is located at the PWAEI Headquarters in Lucerne, Switzerland and reports to the PWAEI Managing Director.

Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to :
  • Lead the engineering and quality organization and manage engineering programs for commercial and military gas turbine engines across the full lifecycle.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams in engineering, quality, MRO, supply chain, and logistics to deliver program objectives.
  • Oversee RTX / IAE partner alignment, including Rolls‑Royce, MTU, and Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, ensuring consistent execution across global stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary focal point for technical, contractual, and program matters with OEMs, airlines, depots, and repair shops.
  • Drive program schedules, budget control, risk management, and milestone delivery.
  • Lead configuration management, documentation traceability, and alignment with certification and regulatory requirements.
  • Support engineering change management, service bulletins, technical validations, and fleet‑wide implementation planning.
  • Integrate in‑service findings, reliability data, and field performance into program improvement plans.
  • Chair technical and program reviews. Prepare management briefs and partner updates.
  • Support quality, audit readiness, and compliance with AS9100, export control, and engine‑airworthiness standards.
  • Lead issue resolution with structured problem‑solving tools such as RCA, 8D, and risk assessments.
Education
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent relevant degree, ideally with specialization in Gas Turbine Technology.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in aerospace, gas turbine engineering, MRO, program management, or technical operations.
  • Strong background in gas turbine engines, including experience with commercial and military platforms.
  • Proven leadership of engineering or aftermarket programs with cross‑functional and multinational coordination.
  • Experience with MRO operations, planning, material management, and engine work‑scope development.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace quality systems (like AS9100), configuration control, and airworthiness principles.
  • Ability to manage complex partner interfaces and influence across joint‑venture environments.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and execution skills. Able to manage competing priorities and deliver on commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Able to present clearly to customers, management, and partner executives.
  • Detail‑oriented, structured, and comfortable taking ownership of issues through closure.
Ideal Candidate

You combine deep engineering knowledge with strong program leadership. You understand the technical, operational, and commercial dimensions of gas turbine engines. You work well in a global matrix environment and enjoy aligning teams, resolving issues, and driving clear program outcomes. You take initiative, work independently, and bring a high sense of responsibility to airworthiness, safety, and customer commitments.
