Opportunity

Dillon’s Physical Hydrogeology discipline is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Hydrogeologist to join our team. This role supports the Dillon’s Atlantic offices (Fredericton, Saint John, Sydney, Halifax) and focuses on leading and supporting a variety of hydrogeological and environmental projects, including groundwater resource management, contaminant hydrogeology, environmental remediation, and groundwater flow modeling. Flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options are offered to help balance personal and professional commitments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and provide senior oversight for field programs, including well drilling operations, installation of monitoring wells, soil and groundwater sampling/monitoring, and geological logging.
  • Design, oversee, and interpret complex hydraulic tests, such as slug, recovery, and pumping tests, to assess aquifer properties.
  • Lead and manage hydrogeological investigations for various projects, including landfill studies.
  • Lead the assessment, design, and monitoring for dewatering projects.
  • Lead, design, oversee, and manage environmental site assessments and remediation projects.
  • Manage, interpret, and analyze complex hydrogeological data using groundwater flow models.
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports, work plans, and proposals.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Mentor and develop junior hydro geologists and technical staff.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including client relationship management and strategic proposal development.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols in all field and office activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, senior hydro geologists, and other team members.
Learning & Development
  • Commit to self‑development and ongoing learning to stay knowledgeable of industry best practices and advancements in water resources engineering.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
  • Advise and mentor junior staff, providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
Qualifications
  • A diploma in environmental or civil engineering, environmental engineering technologist, or environmental sciences.
  • P.Geo. or P.Eng. license, or eligible to apply within a year.
  • 5+ years experience in environmental consulting is an asset.
  • Strong desire to learn and strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental programs and field work.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Experience
  • Experience working with heavy equipment (drill rigs, excavators) is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, field procedures, basic chemistry, contracting/construction, geotechnical concerns, remediation, engineering, site characterization, health and safety.
  • Experience with phased site assessment and remediation and/or hazardous building substances survey.
  • Experience with groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, pumping tests, slug tests, data loggers.
  • Experience with soil and sediment sampling.
  • Understanding of statistical analyses and terms; comfortable completing common statistical procedures.
  • Experience with laboratory bottle orders and chain of custody completion.
  • Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, Surfer, Aquifer Test, AQTESOLV, MODFLOW, FEFLOW, or other groundwater modelling software.
