Job Summary Toughglaze UK Ltd is a leading glass manufacturer supplying high-performance toughened, laminated, printed, and specialist glass across the UK. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Glass Inspection Manager to lead our quality assurance team in ensuring the highest standards of glass product integrity. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of glass inspection processes, implement quality systems, and ensure compliance with industry regulations such as ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and ISO 9001.
Your expertise will drive continuous improvement in quality control and inspection procedures, fostering a culture of excellence and precision.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the glass inspection team across all shifts. Oversee the inspection of toughened, laminated, CNC-processed, sealed units, digital print and specialist glass. Ensure all products meet BS EN standards and internal quality criteria. Approve high-value and critical orders before dispatch. Conduct root cause analysis on defects and implement corrective actions. Maintain quality documentation, NCRs and inspection reports.
Collaborate with Production, Planning and Dispatch teams to resolve quality issues. Support customer services with technical assessments on returns and complaints. About You Were looking for someone who is:
Experienced in glass manufacturing or quality inspection (35 years minimum). Confident in applying BS EN standards such as 12150, 14449 and 1279. Highly attentive to detail with consistent visual judgement. Skilled in team leadership, coaching and performance management. Able to read and understand technical drawings. Calm under pressure with strong communication skills. Proactive and solutions-focused with a continuous-improvement mindset.
Desirable Experience managing a quality department or inspection team. Kitemark/ISO audit experience. Knowledge of sealed unit lines and automated inspection systems.
