Our client has been established for almost 20 years and is recognised as a leading provider of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commission on bespoke automation solutions for a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. With an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to complement their highly successful Projects team based near Telford.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple projects at an engineering level, ensuring alignment with client lead times and standards.
  • Develop and secure sign‑off for project Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and associated controls layout.
  • Produce technical documents in line with client requirements to industry standards, including diagrams and detailed language.
  • Oversee project gateway sign‑off for automation including FDS, electrical design, FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
  • Manage resources for each assigned project: identify, budget, order and deliver materials on schedule, and create documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation and provide high‑level weekly project updates to management detailing key risks, opportunities and escalations.
  • Operate both autonomously and as part of a team, on site and in the workshop, attending meetings at an associated facility in Nottingham and undertaking additional training when required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience within a logistics automation environment.
  • Proven expertise in electrical / PLC design and development, ideally from conveyor, robotics or automotive arena.
  • Strong skills in scheduling, prioritisation, budget management, task management and risk management.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels.
