We have 2 x 25 hours per week positions from 06:00 - 11:00 am Mon - Fri and 1 x 28 hours per week position. An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic persons with a caring and friendly nature to join the Phlebotomy Team at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Cross-site working will be expected at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Community Diagnostic Centre, Telford and Whitchurch Community Hospital (working on wards and in the community).

These are Trainee Phlebotomist posts. Full and extensive departmental training will be given to the successful candidate. The successful candidates should have excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure, have an approachable nature, ability to fulfil the travel requirements and the ability to record data accurately. Shifts will vary according to service needs, so flexibility is important. The successful applicants will be part of a team that provides phlebotomy service to The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

• Collection of blood samples by venepuncture from adults on wards who need to be discharged.
• Recording and labeling of samples.
• Delivery of samples to the laboratory: by hand, via the hospital vacuum air tube system, by portering staff and transport systems.

• Excellent communication skills; able to work under pressure; approachable; able to fulfil travel requirements and record data accurately.
• Willingness to undertake full training for a trainee phlebotomist role.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust; locations include The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Community Diagnostics Centre, and Whitchurch Community Hospital. Cross-site working will be required as described above.
