Keolis Canada is part of the Keolis Group, a global leader in public transport, operating bus, coach and tram networks in major Canadian cities. In partnership with SNCF Voyageurs and the Cadence consortium, the company is developing high‑speed rail projects such as the Alto high‑speed train linking Quebec City to Toronto.

Your Role

As the Maintenance System Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and optimizing the maintenance requirements of railway subsystems to ensure safety, performance, innovation, and operational efficiency throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities Systems Engineering
  • Lead the development of maintenance requirements for each sub‑system.
  • Ensure that maintenance requirements comply with safety regulations, standards and industry best practice.
  • Ensure the completeness and consistency of maintenance requirements sent to Design JV.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure design compliance with O&M requirements (including RAM performance).
  • Liaise with AMS Manager and Asset Register Specialist to contribute significantly to Asset Management IT specifications.
  • Develop gap analysis (between design and requirements) and assess constraints exported from Design to O&M.
  • Participate in value engineering to optimise design and/or maintenance.
  • Ensure that the Concept of Operations is aligned with the design as required.
  • Liaise with Subject Matter Experts to support the O&M JV as required.
  • Contribute to the definition of the roles and responsibilities of the O&M JV during the construction, test & commissioning and handover phases.
  • Contribute to the specification of the functional requirements of Operations Control Centre to integrate assets remote asset monitoring functionalities.
Innovation
  • Coordinate and promote innovation initiatives related to asset management (Internet of Things, AI, predictive maintenance, etc.).
  • Coordinate with design teams to evaluate (from a maintenance perspective) and integrate their proposed innovations where relevant.
  • Ensure that both systems design and maintenance plan are consistent with the selected innovations.
Profile Sought Knowledge And Experience
  • Master’s degree in railway engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in railway maintenance.
  • Experience of large greenfield rail projects (preferably high‑speed rail).
Key Skills
  • Good knowledge of rail subsystems.
  • Advanced project management skills, with experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of both relevant Canadian and International rail industry standards and regulations.
  • Commercial and strategic mindset, solid decision‑making and collaborative skills.
  • Proven ability to understand and fit into complex project organizations.
  • Leadership qualities of the highest standards, ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Additional key personal traits: forward thinking, proactive, collaborative, detail‑oriented, and innovative when required, with a relentless pursuit of excellence.
  • Ability to demonstrate and adhere to the O&M principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Performance.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively explain product and service concepts to project stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both official languages of Canada (English and French) is desirable.
  • Ability to relocate in Montreal, Canada depending on the requirements of the project.
