Manufacturing Engineer (Sliding Head Lathe)

Join Moog Inc. in Tewkesbury to develop and deliver manufacturing processes for precision machined components across a range of materials.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will play a key part in New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes, advising on Design for Manufacture (DfM), PPAP, GD&T, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

• Develop and implement lean manufacturing processes focused on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Create machining processes for complex components with tight tolerances using CAD/CAM tools (Siemens NX or Partmaker preferred).
• Select cutting tools, design fixtures, and produce shop documentation.
• Support APQP activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA studies.
• Lead and support process improvement projects, ensuring minimal downtime in the machine shop.
• Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and recommend design changes to enhance productivity and standardisation.
• Provide technical support to Moog’s supply chain to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met.
• Mentor and support Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians in tooling, gauging, and fixture design.

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
• Significant experience in manufacturing/process engineering, ideally within aerospace or regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of DFM, DFSS, APQP, Lean methodologies, and Zero Defects principles.
• Proven CNC programming expertise using 3D CAD/CAM (Partmaker/Feature cam preferred, Siemens NX10.0, Vericut).
• Experience with sliding head machines (Star machines preferred).
• Exposure to advanced processes such as EDM, honing, lapping, grinding, flow deburring, anodising, and heat treatment.
• Analytical problem‑solving skills with the ability to innovate and deliver practical solutions.
