We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Practice Nurse to work within our friendly and welcoming team at the Dishford Medical Centre, Airfield, Thrisk, North Yorkshire (YO7 3EZ
).

- Provide multidisciplinary primary healthcare nursing, including occupational health elements, in a 37.5‑hour per week full‑time role.
- Collaborate with the Principal Nursing Officer or Senior Medical Officer to deliver high‑quality person‑centred care, working unsupervised where required.
- Diagnose and manage patients with complex needs, minor injuries, illnesses and diseases within the level of competence.
- Maintain an individual caseload and continuously improve service standards through evidence‑based practice, clinical audit, research and education.
- Provide line management, training and clinical supervision to Military Medics, junior practice nurses, Healthcare Assistants and other team members.
- Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct and all Ministry of Defence policies.
- Monitor and improve standards through supervision and evidence‑based practice.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support the operational and strategic development of the service.
- Lead improvement initiatives, including clinical audits and education programmes.
- Ensure compliance with NMC and MOD standards and guidelines.
- Registered Nurse on sub‑Part 1 (RN1/RN(A)) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Minimum of 3 years post‑registration experience in primary healthcare.
- Proficiency in Basic Life Support, Automated External Defibrillation, Infection Prevention and Control, and Level‑3 safeguarding (or willingness to train).
- Experience in history taking, physical assessment and triage of minor injury/illness, including immunisation, venepuncture, ear care, audiology, travel medicine, wound care and cervical screening.
- Experience with health and wellbeing clinics: smoking cessation, weight management, sexual health.
- Experience in occupational health, including musculoskeletal вруч, skulu for military personnel (preferred).
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnosis skills in a primary care setting.
- Ability to work safely unsupervised and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent Keep communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and improvement.
Assessment will be based on experience, competence estratégias and evidence of meeting the above criteria via CV and personal statement.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate required registration, evidencerecognized Hepatitis B serology, and complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
