Job SummaryActivities Coordinator role at Hill Care.
LocationMandale House Nursing Home, 136 Acklam Road, Thornaby
Responsibilities- Plan and organise activities – Create daily, weekly, and monthly schedules of social, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to residents’ needs.
- Promote engagement – Encourage participation in activities that support physical, mental, and emotional well‑being.
- Individualised support – Adapt activities to suit residents’ abilities, preferences, and cultural backgrounds.
- Build relationships – Foster positive connections with residents, families, and staff to create a welcoming environment.
- Support health and wellbeing – Coordinate activities that improve mobility, memory, and overall quality of life.
- Creative stimulation – Organise arts, crafts, music, games, and outings to keep residents mentally active.
- Record keeping – Maintain documentation of activities, attendance, and residents’ progress.
- Collaboration – Work closely with care staff, nurses, and management to integrate activities into care plans.
- Enhance quality of life – Ensure residents feel valued, included, and socially connected.
- Safeguarding and safety – Make sure activities are safe, inclusive, and appropriate for all participants.
- Help clients to socialise within the care home and provide a variety of activities that cater for all tastes.
- Plan and initiate monthly rolling or individual programmes, encouraging clients to maintain pre‑existing hobbies.
- Encourage staff, relatives, and friends to participate in the care home’s activities.
- Accompany clients, where possible, to off‑site activities, which may occasionally take place out of normal working hours.
- Create an atmosphere that suits individual clients within the care home.
- Assist with fundraising and budgeting for entertainments, materials, and outings.
- Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities using appropriate documentation, assisting the named carer to review and update client care files.
- Proven ability to develop and organise a range of events/activities for clients in all categories.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Team player.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Friendly, creative and confident.
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group.
- Valid Police Check and clearance against the POVA List (if applicable).
- Previous experience working with the relevant client group.
- Qualification in remedial/occupational therapies.
- Flexible approach towards working routines.
- Communication: discuss aims and objectives, report changes, provide comfort, arrange meetings.
- Human Resources: assist home manager in interviewing volunteers, supervise work.
- Marketing: promote the care home within the local community.
- Training and Development: ensure staff know how to use equipment, attend mandatory courses.
- Health and Safety: report illnesses, incidents, maintain safety policies, ensure confidentiality, maintain equipment.
- Contract type:
Full‑time. - Salary: £12.21 hourly.
- Closing date:
Saturday 31st January 2026.
