Are you passionate about shaping the future of our communities through innovative planning policy? We are looking for a dynamic and motivated part-time Senior Planning Officer – Policy
to join our Planning Policy team and play a key role in delivering a first-class, customer-focused planning service.
As a Senior Planning Officer, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Local Plan and related planning policy matters, including conservation, climate change, and regeneration initiatives. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and the public to ensure our planning policies reflect the needs and aspirations of our borough.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support the preparation and monitoring of the Local Plan.
- Draft reports, guidance, and policy statements on planning matters.
- Represent the Council at meetings, public inquiries, and exhibitions.
- Provide expert planning policy advice to colleagues, Members, and the public.
- Contribute to regeneration and environmental enhancement projects.
- Stay up to date with legislative changes and planning policy developments.
You’ll bring a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement. You’ll be a skilled communicator with the ability to translate complex technical information into accessible advice. You’ll also have:
- A recognised degree in Town Planning and RTPI membership.
- Post-qualification experience in planning policy, including project management.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- A collaborative approach and ability to work independently.
- A commitment to equality, integrity, and excellent customer service.
