The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax preparation and accounting services, specifically for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in our Canadian Corporate Tax division.
Our Canadian Corporate Tax practice works with clients to help minimize federal and provincial corporate income taxes. We also provide assistance in ruling requests, and in dealing with tax audits and assessments from federal and provincial tax authorities. We do not only provide assistance in ensuring our clients are compliant with their income tax filing obligations, but we are also proactive in identifying and implementing income tax saving opportunities that help improve and make our clients’ businesses better.
Through tailored tax planning advice, our tax teams help clients gain a competitive advantage.
- Review bookkeeping and accounting functions for clients using Accounting Software such as Quick Books Online
- Prepare financial statements and compilation engagements
- Prepare, review, and file corporate and personal tax returns including T1s, T2s, and T3s
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships by understanding their business needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients
- Manage and oversee multiple client accounts and ensure timely delivery of services
- Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements
- Stay updated with the latest tax regulations and accounting standards
- Completed or currently enrolled in the In-Depth Tax Course
- Minimum of 5 years of Canadian Corporate tax experience in a large professional services firm or public practice accounting firm.
- Must be an expert in Quick Books Online and possess a valid Quick Books Online Pro Advisor certification
- Proficiency in English at a business level is required. The successful candidate may be required to create, interpret and/or apply policies, practices, laws, and/or regulations during the regular course of their employment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to generate high-quality deliverables.
- Strong computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office and advanced level Excel skills.
- Must be highly competent, able to work under stress, and be great at communication
- Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients' business to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Experience and proven ability to manage team members and projects successfully and direct the work of others.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities
- Confidence and resilience in dealing with senior partners and challenging situations
- Awareness of the sensitivity of information received and appropriate handling
- Experience with tax software such as Wolters Kluwer and Pro-File is a strong addition
- Competitive base salary: $95,000 to $130,000 depending on experience
