Our client, a well established real estate management firm, is looking to add a Property Accountant to their team in Mississauga. The role will be a flexible hybrid position, with a minimum of 1 day in the office.

Reporting to a Senior Accounting Supervisor and collaborating with a dynamic team, the Accounting Specialist is accountable for overseeing property financial matters for a specific portfolio. This role focuses on ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of financial statements at an institutional level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate comprehensive financial statements for designated properties on a monthly, quarterly, and/or annual basis, intended for owners' review.
  • Maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and owners' requirements during the financial statement preparation.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers and owners to offer support and clarify financial statements when necessary.
  • Lead the development of annual operating budgets for each property, in coordination with various departments.
  • Prepare working files for year-end audits.
  • Ensure the accuracy of monthly tenant charges.
  • Calculate and compile year-end operating cost and tax adjustment calculations for tenants based on actual year-end costs.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable associated with the portfolio.
  • Submit necessary tax returns as applicable.
  • Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Possess 2 to 5 years of relevant general accounting experience; prior experience in Property Accounting is a plus.
  • Exhibit strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager Property Management software is advantageous.
